Course Name

Virginia Tech – ICS 400. Advanced ICS for Command and General Staff – Complex Incidents and MACS.

Course Synopsis

ICS 400 expands upon the material covered in ICS 100, 200, and 300. ICS 400 focuses on large single-agency and complex multi-agency/multi-jurisdictional incident response. The course addresses area command and staff issues, as well as the planning, logistical, and fiscal considerations associated with complex incident management and interagency coordination.

Primary Audience

The target audience includes those serving as command staff, section chiefs, strike team leaders, task force leaders, unit leaders, division/group supervisors, branch directors, and multi-agency coordination system/emergency operations center staff, however the course is open to all Virginia Tech students, faculty, and staff who have completed ICS 100, ICS 200, and ICS 300.

The Public Safety Building (previously Southgate Center) houses both Emergency Management and the Virginia Tech Police Department. It is located at 330 Sterrett Drive, behind Lane Stadium near Fleet Services. Walk through the main entrance, continue through the double doors straight ahead, and down the hallway. The office will be on your left.
