What is the Hokie Ready Academy?

The Hokie Ready Academy is an interactive and enjoyable training designed to increase the preparedness skills of the participants. 

How long is the Hokie Ready Academy?

The Hokie Ready Academy is 2-hour training sesssions that are held one night a week for 7 weeks.

What does the training include?

  • Session 1: Individual Preparedness
  • Session 2: Home Preparedness
  • Session 3: Vehicle Preparedness 
  • Session 4: CPR Training
  • Session 5: Stop the Bleed Training
  • Session 6: Psychological First Aid
  • Session 7: Case Study of Disasters

What are some of the hands-on training that will be included?

During the course you will receive hands on training on how to extinguish a fire, what to do if you have a falt tire or a dead battery, lifesaving and emotional support skills, and learn how prepared individuals support a community during a disaster.

How often is the Hokie Ready Academy offered?

The Academy will be offered in the fall and spring semesters.
